Wife of man tortured in Mişrif protests the governorate

Celal Yıldırım, father of 13, was wounded when soldiers opened fire in Lice’s Bağlan (Mişrif) village. His wife Münevver Yıldırım protested the Diyarbakır Governorate declaring her husband a “terrorist”.

Three people had been wounded (one in critical condition) in the raid the soldiers carried out on September 3 in the Bağlan (Mişrif) village in Amed’s Lice district. Celal Yıldırım (58) was one of the wounded. His wife Münevver Yıldırım protested the Diyarbakır Governorate declaring her husband a “terrorist”.

Yıldırım spoke on the statement issued by the governorate and said: “Yes my husband has a warrant. But other than that, the governorate’s statement is completely false, there is no shred of truth in it. It is a lie that my husband was found with grenades on his person. They opened fire on the tractor he was riding. If we hadn’t shouted at the soldiers that they were civilians, my husband and son would have been killed. When we wanted to go near my husband, soldiers called us terrorists and opened fire on us. This is tyranny. My husband has a heart and a blood pressure condition. I take care of him. How can a 58-year-old man with a home, children, a tractor and a field be a terrorist? There is no lawsuit against my husband either, they just declare him a terrorist.”

NOBODY CAN SEE YILDIRIM

Celal Yıldırım, seriously wounded on his face and foot by the soldiers’ fire, is receiving treatment in the Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Research and Education Hospital. He left the intensive care unit and was taken to a private room, and his condition is reportedly improving. Soldiers and police officers keep watch by the door and do not let anybody but doctors and nurses through to see him.

PRESSURING THE HOSPITAL TO RELEASE HIM

Meanwhile, there are claims that the soldiers and the police have been pressuring the hospital administration and Yıldırım might be released in the coming days. Reports say soldiers tortured Yıldırım for hours in his wounded state and there are bruises and wounds all over his body.

SERİN AND YILDIRIM HELD IN CUSTODY

Münir Serin was wounded on his leg in the incident and was taken to the hospital with an ambulance 4 hours later. Despite Serin losing a lot of blood, he wasn’t allowed to be treated in the hospital and was taken into custody the same day in the Diyarbakır Province Gendarmerie Command. There is no information on Serin’s health or when he will be referred to the courthouse. Bedri Yıldırım was detained along with his father and he is held in the Lice District Gendarmerie Command now.
