Seven people from a group of refugees have frozen to death while trying to cross into Turkey from Iran.

The group of refugees were noticed by soldiers out on patrol at around 03.00 last night as they were trying to cross into Hangedik region of Van's Çaldıran district at the border to Iran.

The soldiers went to scene to see a terrifying scene where 6 children aged between 3 and 7, and a woman had frozen to death. The refugees and bodies of 7 were taken to Çaldıran State Hospital from which 5 in critical condition were referred to a hospital in Van.

The bodies of 7 people are being held in the morgue of the Çaldıran State Hospital.
