Women's Day for peace

Kurdish women will take to the streets to voice their demands for freedom for Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan and negotiations for the solution of the Kurdish issue on 8 March, International Women’s Day. Hunger strikes carried out to voice the same demands continue in Diyarbakýr, Ýzmir, Malatya, Batman, Baþkale (Van), Yüksekova Town of Hakkari, Viranþehir Town of Urfa, Nusaybin (Mardin), Cizre (Þýrnak), Doðubayazýt (Aðrý) and Kaðýzman (Kars).

The 8th of March events to take place in Batman, Viranþehir (Urfa) and Nusaybin (Mardin) were announced in a press conference. The slogan of the actions will be ‘Women want freedom and negotiations for the solution of the Kurdish issue.’

Women activists from the Democratic Free Women’s Movement (DÖKH) will also send postcards to Kurdish leader Öcalan from the Baðlar District of Diyarbakýr and Suruç and Ceylanpýnar (Urfa) on March 2 as part of the 8 March events.
