Women to march demanding freedom for Öcalan

The Democrat and Free Women Movement (DÖKH) has launched a new campaign called “Freedom for Öcalan”. The association has organized different marches and rallies in various city across Turkey.

Today rallies will be taking place in Ýzmir, Mardin’s Kýzýltepe district and Þýrnak’s Silopi district. Police did not allow women to march in Istanbul, Mersin and Diyarbakýr.

Meanwhile the Federation of Solidarity Associations with Prisoners’ Families (TUHAD-FED) made an announcement that they will support prisoners’ hunger strike to protest isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

According to Chair Zübeyde Teker’s statement, TUHAD-FED members will organize sit-in actions in ten different places every Tuesday.
