Worldwide Action for Afrin: Everybody should take to the streets

The International Action for Afrin Committee condemned the Turkish state attacks and called on everybody to join the demonstrations on Saturday.

The International Action for Afrin declared on March 16 in Paris with participation from European Parliament members, lawyers, academics and representatives from women’s organizations will be holding demonstrations in various countries from Japan to Canada on Saturday. The demonstrations will condemn Turkey’s attacks against Afrin and call on international powers to take action.

Villo Sigurdsson, Andy Carl, Angie Gonzales, Ana Maria Palacios, Arturo Salerni, Barbara Spinelli, Benjamin Abtan and Costas Marides signed the written statement in the name of the committee, who call for widespread participation from all groups in demonstrations to be held today in various centers around the world.

“TURKEY IS COMMITTING WAR CRIMES”

The statement harshly condemned Turkey’s attacks against Afrin and pointed out the following:

“Turkey’s attacks against Afrin continue. These attacks have resulted in the death of hundreds of civilians, including women and children, and hundreds of others have been wounded. Tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes. As these Turkish attacks continue in Afrin, unfortunately the world powers remain silent. This shows the role the international powers play in the attacks. Turkey is committing war crimes in Afrin today. The ceasefire proposed by the UN should go into effect urgently and Turkish soldiers must immediately withdraw.”

FROM JAPAN TO AUSTRALIA

The committee statement continued with mentioning the demonstrations to be held on March 24 in Europe, Afghanistan, India, Japan, Canada, Australia, Latin America and North America and said: “Demonstrations throughout the world will be held on March 24 to end Turkey’s invasion of Afrin. As the International Committee for Afrin, we are calling on all circles who stand against war, invasion and massacres to take to the streets and protest”
