Xoşnav Ata, who has been carrying out his action in front of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in Den Haag, since his two nephews were murdered by chemical weapons, came to Switzerland and held a series of meetings within the United Nations.

Ata also met with Amnesty International officials. During the meeting, in Bern, Ata was accompanied by CDK-S Foreign Relations Committee member Asmin Engin and former KESK co-chair Lami Özgen.

Ata: Turkish state commits war crimes

Xoşnav Ata met with Anita Streule at the Bern office of Amnesty International. He told Streule that the Turkish state should investigate the use of chemical weapons and added: “Two of my nephews fell martyrs, killed by the chemical weapon used by the Turkish state. The Turkish state has been committing war crimes and human rights violations for the past 50 years. I think that human rights organizations should play their role in this regard. Unfortunately, these institutions have not fulfilled their duties and responsibilities until today."

Streule: We are closely following news of the chemical weapons claims

The delegation asked Amnesty International to work jointly to prevent the use of chemical weapons and presented a file containing documents and findings on the use of chemical weapons. Amnesty International official Anita Streule stated that they would follow the demands of the delegation and that the received file would be sent to their headquarters. Streule said: “We are closely following the news of the use of chemical weapons. We will forward the file you gave us to the necessary places and we will follow up.”
