Yazidi activist killed in Duhok

Two Yazidi activists have been killed in Southern Kurdistan since last week.

Yazidi rights defender and activist Şêx Paşa has been killed in Duhok province in Southern Kurdistan, Northern Iraq.

The young activist was promoting aid campaigns for the Yazidis who had fled the genocidal attacks during the ISIS onslaught on their ancestral homeland, the town of Shengal (Sinjar) in August 2014. He also strongly criticized the recently announced agreement between the KDP of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Baghdad government on the future of Shengal.

The Yazidi activist was killed by unidentified assailants with firearm. While an investigation has been launched into the incident, nobody has been detained in connection with his murder yet.

Only last week, Yazidi activist Beşîr Kuriya was murdered in the Shekan district.
