Yazidi delegation and German MP visit Sur municipality

Celle Mala Yazidi delegation and German SPD (Socialist Party of Germany) Parliamentarian Maximilian Schmidt has been in North Kurdistan for contacts with officials of the local administrations and civil society organizations in Amed, Batman, Midyat district of Mardin and Viranşehir district of Urfa, and to exchange experiences.
As part of talks in North Kurdistan, the Yazidi delegation and German MP visited the co-chairs of the municipality of Amed's Sur district today.
SPD deputy Maximilian Schmidt obtained information about the situation of the Yazidi families staying in Fidanlık camp in Yenişehir district of Amed.
Speaking during the visit, Sur Co-mayor Seyid Narin said that; “The Turkish state has not recognised the Sinjar and Kobanê people as refugees, nor has it provided any aid to them”, adding that it was the DBP municipalities in North Kurdistan that did their best to meet the needs of the refugees. Seyid Narin vowed to continue their works and efforts for the refugees.
Co-mayor Fatma Şık Barut drew attention to the fact that the Yazidi people did not want to leave Sinjar and wanted to return home once it is completely liberated from the ISIS gangs. Barut said they also performed works to organise the return of the Yazidi people to Sinjar, despite some among them planning to migrate to Europe.
