Yazidi women demand freedom for Ocalan

The Yazidi House in Berlin launched an action in front of the central parliament of Germany in order to protest the isolation of the Kurdish people’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan.

Led by the SMJÊ û DEST DAN Women’s Council, the Yazidi House in Berlin staged a demonstration in front of the central parliament of Germany in order to protest the aggravated isolation of the Kurdish people’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan. Many leaflets were distributed to the passers-by and the goal of the demonstration was explained to the public opinion.

SMJÊ’s representative Nujiyan Gûnay spoke on behalf of the activists and stated that the paradigm of Abdullah Ocalan is the only way to freedom and peace for the people of the Middle East and particularly the Yazidi people.

“In order to support the honorable resistance that was initiated by Leyla Guven and spread everywhere including Shengal, we the Yazidi women will be undertaking a principal role. At such critical times, the silence of Germany and the CPT (Council of Europe’s Committee for Prevention of Torture) is not accepted. The isolation should immediately end, and Turkish fascism stopped,” said Gunay.

Gunay urged the German government, the United Nations, the CPT and the public opinion to break their silence. She called on the Yazidi community to mobilize and take to the streets in February to end the isolation.
