The Sinjar Command of Women’s Guerrilla Army YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) has announced in a written statement that their forces would be leading the fight against ISIS gangs in Sinjar.

The statement underlined that in face of abduction of 5 thousand Ezidi Kurdish women in Sinjar, it was a primary duty of YJA Star guerrillas to ensure the self-defence and liberation of the women in the Sinjar region.

YJA Star Sinjar Command pointed out the resistance of the Ezidi people is continuing since the massacre committed in their hometown on 3 August, adding that the last one week has witnessed fierce clashes with ISIS gangs in the Sinjar region, mainly in the Dîgure region where -it added- HPG-YJA Star guerrillas and YBŞ (Sinjar Resistance Units) forces have bravely fought and repulsed the attacks of the gangs in many areas.

Referring to the attacks of ISIS gangs on the security corridor opened up by Kurdish guerrillas leading from Rojava to the Mount Sinjar, YJA Star Command said the aim of the attacks on the corridor was to complement the unaccomplished massacre and to condemn the Ezidi Kurdish people to hunger.

The Command reported that 103 gang members at least were killed in four days of clashes with the HPG-YJA Star forces that epically resisted to the attacks in Sinjar region.

The statement noted that YJA Star forces have been deployed in many areas of the Sinjar region.

YJA Star Sinjar Command promised, first and foremost to the Ezidis and the people of Kurdistan, to secure the self-defence of women, and underlined that it was their primary responsibility and historic duty to stand and resist against the massacre committed against the Ezidi people, and to ensure the rescue and liberation of 5 thousand Ezidi women kidnapped by ISIS.

YJA Star Sinjar Command ended the statement by calling on Ezidis, women and youths to join the ranks of the YBŞ in order to enhance the resisting force and to defend and liberate the people of Sinjar.
