Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, who has been imprisoned since November 2016, has sent a message from prison for Sunday’s local elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan.
The message, published on Yüksekdağ’s Twitter account, is as follows;
“Go to the polls on Sunday, for us too.
Claim every single vote given for our peoples’ labor, right, will, and for the growing resistance in prisons and outside. I call upon the sons and girls of great humanity to stand shoulder to shoulder for our honor, freedom and future against fascism, with resistance and persistence.
I send my special greetings to Van where I was elected a deputy twice but couldn’t even complete a term. I am sure we will succeed. But, we must succeed great. So must be the account to be given for what has been usurped from us. I trust the people of Van with great conscience and sense of fairness will do what is necessary.”
