• Academics turn their backs to the President-appointed rector  

  Academics, who supported the protests carried out by Boğaziçi University students against the rector imposed by Presidential decree, once again turned their backs to the office of the rector.
• 147 writers send a statement of solidarity to Boğaziçi University students 

  A joint text was published by 147 writers in support to Boğaziçi University students. "We stand by the resistance at Boğaziçi University. We will not bow to persecution and oppression," said the writers.

  The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg, France has entered its 451st week. Kurdish young people from Paris took over the vigil this week.
• Young man shot by soldiers in Van fights for his life in hospital 

  M. Ali Nametoğulları, shot by Turkish soldiers in Van, is struggling for his life. His father Iskender Namtoğulları said that his son had got out of the vehicle and had raised his hands but was shot while walking towards the soldiers.
• Socialist Andres Arauz wins first electoral round in Ecuador 

  Socialist Andres Arauz won the first electoral round in Ecuador. He advanced to an April 11 runoff, but it is still too close to call whether he would face environmental activist Yaku Perez or conservative banker Guillermo Lasso.
• Long March in Germany enters day 4 

  The action promoted in Hanau by TEKO-JIN, TCŞ and internationalists as an alternative to the Long March, entered day 4.
• University student Beyza Buldağ remanded in custody
