Dozens of ISIS mercenaries killed in clashes in Deir ez-Zor

At least 31 mercenaries were killed in clashes between SDF and ISIS in Deir ez-Zor.

In parallel with the Turkish state’s attacks targeting civilians in some villages of Kobane and Gire Spi, ISIS mercenaries have been attacking intensely against the positions of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Hajin town of Deir ez-Zor during the past two days.

The Deir ez-Zor offensive, launched by SDF against ISIS on September 10, was temporarily suspended on October 31 because of the Turkish attacks on Kobane and Gire Spi.

Taking advantage of heavy rains, especially on Saturday night, ISIS launched an attack on SDF positions to the north and northwest of Hajin with heavy weapons.

Fierce fighting erupted as SDF fighters retaliated the attacks which were repelled in several locations.

At least 31 ISIS members were killed during the clashes and dozens of others were wounded. In addition, two vehicles of the mercenaries, one of them laden with explosives, were destroyed.

Clashes between SDF fighters and ISIS mercenaries were ongoing in some areas by Sunday evening.
