New co-chairs of TEV-DEM elected at the third congress in Rimelan

Zelal Ceger and Xerîb Hiso have been elected new co-chairs of TEV-DEM at the third congress of the organization.

The third congress of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) which kicked off in Rimelan town of Northern Syria Monday morning, has ended.

Xerîb Hiso and Zelal Ceger have been elected new co-chairs of the movement.

Xerîb Hiso is a Yazidi citizen from Afrin, aged above 50 years. Hiso was born in Shera district and is known for his patriotism since 1985. He is married and father of 4 children, one of whom is a fighter in YPG ranks. His wife is the co-chair of the Afrin Union of Yazidis.

Hiso is at the same time a member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD). He was arrested three times because of his political works and was tortured in the dungeons of the regime. He took part in the founding works of TEV-DEM in 2011 and served as the foreign relations representative of the PYD and TEV-DEM in South Kurdistan for 4 years.

The other co-chair, Zelal Ceger, was born in Derik city of Rojava. She is 44 years old. Ceger has long been involved in the works of Kongra Star and TEV-DEM. She is a leading figure in Kongra Star and is a beloved person among the population as she worked and stayed in almost all areas of Rojava.

Zelal Ceger carried out politics and organization works in Aleppo, Afrin and Cizire regions for many years and she, too, was involved in the founding works of TEV-DEM in 2011.
