Northern Syrian Internal Security Forces hold congress in Raqqa

The Congress was held in Raqqa and discussed how to defend internal security.

The First Conference of the Northern Syrian Internal Security Forces was organized at the Euphrates Stadium in Raqqa.

Under the slogan "A safe future with your strength", hundreds of Internal Security Forces members from the Northern Syrian region gathered in Raqqa on Wednesday.

The Euphrates Stadium, the venue of the conference, was prepared with posters of the martyrs, flags and photos.

The conference started with a minute’s silence. Then, Nujiyan Hesen, the commander of the Northern Syrian Homeland Security Forces, said he hoped the conference would result in the strengthening of internal security of the region.

She added that important decisions for the construction of a free future needed to be taken by the Conference.

Kenan Berekat, co-chairman of the Interior Council of Cizire Canton said: "Internal Security Forces play an important role in ensuring the security of Northern Syria and its peoples. The Internal Security Forces institutions, beginning from the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) have cleared many areas from the DAESH mercenaries. Thanks to them, - he added - many citizens have been able to return to their land which are now safe areas."

At the end of his speech, Kenan Berekat said he wished a successful conclusion of the conference.

After the debate, 5 members were elected to the Conference presidency.

The annual activity reports and the Statute of the Internal Security Forces were discussed by the delegates who made suggestions to the presidency.

At the end of the conference, the two flags proposed for the Interior Security Forces were accepted by the participants.

Internal security units in Raqqa, Tabqa, Deir ez-Zor and Manbij will have a flag in Arabic saying "Internal Security Forces".

In other regions of Northern Syria, "Internal Security Forces – Asayish (Public Order)" flags will be used.
