Thousands marched in Qamishlo for Kobanê

The historic triumph in Kobanê showed that the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria will not bow and will resist to the end in defense of their freedom.

To mark 1 November, World Kobanê Day, tens of thousands attended a march in the town of Tirbesiye, in Qamishlo.

People from different identities and faiths living in the canton participated in the march which was opened by Kongreya-Star Tirbesiyê.

Demonstrators condemned the Turkish occupation of Kobanê and Girê Spî.

Asiya Abdullah, Coordinator of the Kongreya Star addressed the crowd.

A historic victory against barbarism was achieved, said Abdullah, thanks to the spirit of resistance and solidarity of peoples in Kobanê.

The historic triumph in Kobanê showed that the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria will not bow and will resist to the end in defense of their freedom, Abdullah added.

Abdullah insisted that the Turkish state has attacked Northern Syria in the attempt to avoid the final defeat of DAESH. The Turkish state, she added, aims at destroying the common life project implemented by the people living in Northern and Eastern Syria.

Hisên El-Elî, speaking for the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Jazira (Cizire) Region, said that the historic resistance mounted against DAESH in Kobanê will be mounted against any other group attempting to destroy the achievements by the Kurds.
