17 new Covid-19 cases in North East Syria in the past 24 hours

17 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in North East Syria, bringing the total so far to 544. One person has died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 35.

Ciwan Mustafa, co-chair of the North and East Syrian Health Committee, shared the last 24-hour data related to the coronavirus outbreak in the region.

Mustafa said that 17 new cases have been detected in the region while a 70-year-old patient has died in Heseke.

Accordingly, the 17 new cases were detected in the following cities: 8 in Qamishlo, 3 in Hesekê, 3 in Dêrik, 1 in Rimêlan, 1 in Amudê and 1 in Shehba. Mustafa also announced that 10 infected people have recovered during the past 24 hours.

According to the latest data announced, the total number of cases in the region increased to 544, the number of those who lost their lives to 35, and the number of people who recovered to 98.

Thanks to early contact restrictions, the autonomous regions initially had the pandemic well under control and were able to seal themselves off successfully for months - largely closed borders and strict quarantine conditions kept the virus away. Since the end of July, the number of cases of people infected with the corona virus has been rising daily.

On the other hand, the total number of Coronavirus cases in Syria has reached 2,628, of which 599 recovered while 106 passed away.

The first Coronavirus case in the country was registered on Mar 22nd while the first death was reported on 29th of the same month.
