Afrin and Shehba health councils issued a joint press statement and called for medical aid as there are hundreds of thousands of civilians devoid of health services in the Shehba region.
Health councils of Afrin and Shehba cantons issued a joint press statement in the Ehres commune regarding the health of the hundreds of thousands of civilians who had to migrate to the Shehba Canton following the attacks of the Turkish state and their allied gangs. A large group of health workers and Heyva Sor a Kurd members participated in the press statement and Dr. Azad Sebri shared the latest information on the health issues of the people of Afrin.
Sebrî said in the 58 days of aerial and terrestrial Turkish state and allied gang attacks against Afrin, hundreds of civilians including women and children have been massacred and thousands of others have been wounded: “With the civilian massacres gaining a systemic character, hundreds of thousands of civilians left Afrin and migrated to the Shehba Canton and the Sherawa district. Many civilians lost their lives on the migration route and were buried along the roadside.”
Sebrî said migrants had to leave their homes with just the clothes on their backs and the conditions in the region are very harsh and extremely unhealthy, adding that the health services they are able to offer with their limited means is very insufficient. Sebrî said: “Hundreds of thousands of people are trying to survive in the Shehba region and its villages under extremely unhealthy conditions. The most urgent needs are clean water and medicine. We also have great difficulties regarding medical supplies.”
Sebrî stated that they have received no medical supplies or medicine from international aid organizations and called for such aid.
