Afrin Autonomous Administration calls for international action against Turkish attacks

Remarking that the Turkish state tries to revive the DAESH (ISIS) by attacking North-East Syria, Autonomous Administration of Afrin Region called on the international community and organizations to stop the Turkish attacks against the region.

On Friday, July 22, a Turkish killer drone targeted a YPJ vehicle in the canton of Qamishlo. In the car were the commanders Jiyan Tolhildan and Roj Xabûr, as well as fighter Barîn Botan, none of whom survived the attack. They had just been on their way back from the forum on women's revolution on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the women's revolution in Rojava when their vehicle was bombed.

The Turkish state and allied mercenaries have been conducting intensified attacks against the regions of Til Temir, Zirgan, Shera, Sherawa and Til Rifet since early this morning. The ongoing attacks have claimed the lives of a Syrian soldier and a civilian and left at least eight other people injured.

The Autonomous Administration of Afrin Region made a statement in the Berxwedan Camp in the northern Syrian canton of Shehba responding to the increasingly ongoing attacks and threats of the Turkish state against North-East Syria.

The statement read out by Israfîl Mistefa, vice co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of Afrin Region, said: “The Turkish state’s attacks on neighboring countries, civilians and the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) point to its failure in political, economic and diplomatic arenas. By attacking North-East Syria, the Turkish state tries to revive the DAESH (ISIS) terrorist organization.”

The Autonomous Administration of Afrin Region called on the international community and organizations to uphold their moral responsibilities, to support the SDF’s fight against terror and to stop the Turkish attacks against North-East Syria.
