Afrin Human Rights Organization Spokesperson, Ibrahim Şêxo, made statements regarding the crimes committed by the Turkish army and its mercenaries in July in Afrin. The region has been occupied by Turkey and Turkey-affiliated mercenaries since 2018. Şêxo said that 37 civilians were abducted by mercenaries in a month.
He told ANHA that the civilians who wanted to return to their home in Afrin were abducted by the Turkish intelligence and added: “Hisên Heci, who lives in Bilbilê, gave 6 thousand dollars to return to his home. Mihemed Şêxo, who wanted to return to his home in Shera, also gave a thousand dollars.”
Şêxo said that attempts to change the demographic structure in Afrin continue and added that 21 houses and workplaces were confiscated for various reasons. Şêxo also said that those who took permission to plough their relatives' lands had them revoked by the mercenaries.
El Hemzat group confiscated agricultural products in nearly 30 villages, said Ibrahim Şêxo, adding that the Sultan Murad group also confiscated 150 olive trees.
Şêxo called on the international community to act and guarantee that the people of Afrin can return to their homes and that those committing crimes should be brought to justice.
