Afrin shepherd abducted, army says “PKK member caught”

The Turkish army has abducted Mihemed Kemal Horo in Afrin and claimed they captured a PKK member. Horo’s family says he was herding sheep when he was abducted.

The Turkish army used to abduct and murder shepherds and villagers and claim they “killed PKK members”, and now they employ the same tactic in the invasion attempt against Afrin. Mihemed Kemal Horo went out to look for his lost animals on February 9, and hadn’t been heard from since, until Al Qaeda gangs under the Turkish army posted photographs of two villagers on their social media accounts claiming they “took PKK members hostage”. One of the people in the photograph was the father of five, shepherd Mihemed Kemal Horo.

“WE SAW THE PHOTOGRAPH AND FOUND OUT HE WAS TAKEN”

The family of Mihemed Kemal Horo, who has been taken hostage by the Turkish army and their Al Qaeda partners, spoke to the ANF. Mihemed Kemal Horo’s wife Rûken Arif said he went to find the lost sheep and they haven’t heard from him since: “My husband used to work as a tailor to make ends meet. And we have some sheep. The sheep were lost, so my husband went to look for them. We hadn’t heard from him since February 9, then the other day a relative sent us a photograph, that was when we learned he had been taken a hostage.”

“I DON’T KNOW IF MY HUSBAND IS ALIVE”

Rûken Arif said she and her children Kemal, Arif, Rindê, Sara and Nergiz have been waiting for her husband for more than two weeks and added: “We have been waiting for days, but we never heard from him. We have 5 children together. We are civilians. We had a couple of sheep that we live off of. Now we don’t even know if my husband is alive.”

“HE WAS A SHEPHERD”

Father Kemal Horo said they live quietly in their own village: “My son had some sheep, he went to look for them when they disappeared, and he never came back. Our relatives in Europe sent us this photograph. He has 5 children, he is not a fighter, he couldn’t have been caught in a battle. He was looking for his sheep. He was a shepherd.”

HE HAS FIVE CHILDREN

Kemal Horo said they live on their own land and added: “He has five children. Now how can I take care of them in my old age? What do they want from us? We are on our own land here. We didn’t come and invade anybody’s land. Whether we live or die, it will be on these lands.”
