The anti-terror units of the Manbij Military Council (YAT) targeted Turkish proxy groups that carry out attacks in the region. According to the YAT statement, an agent of the Turkish secret service MIT was caught. The alleged MIT agent is Khaled Muhammad Salama (Abu Uday).
The statement said it was "determined that he had been recruited as an agent by the Turkish secret service MIT in Manbij." The man was under observation since 3 January 2022 and was eventually arrested on Thursday.
Planned attacks on politicians
Among the documents seized are photos of the home of the deputy chair of the Future Party of Syria, Abu Araj. Apparently, the arrested agent was planning an attack on the house of the politician. A picture of the coordinates where he had laid a mine was also secured. Such documents are used to prove to MIT that the orders have been fulfilled. During the interrogation, his two wives, Amal Nema and Nagham Sobhi, confirmed Salama's connection to MIT.
Salama was in constant contact with MIT agent Abu Ibrahim Azaz, who had also provided him with the mine to be used in the attack on the house of Future Party politician Abu Araj. Salama sent Azaz photos of the target. After Salama's arrest, Azaz contacted his wife, Amal Nema, and demanded that the bomb be handed over to someone he would send. Nema was also arrested. She admitted her involvement in the interrogation. Their statements were confirmed by Salama's second wife, Nagham Sobhi.

The YAT seized the following items from the house: two Kalashnikov assault rifles, one BKC machine gun, eight Kalashnikov magazines, two RBC, two B7 rocket launchers, three B7 grenades, a Kalashnikov silencer, a Kalashnikov vest, three BKC Ammunition belt, a bomb, three kilograms of heroin.
