Opinion leaders of the Arab tribes in the Hol district of the Hesekê Canton condemned the attack of the Iraqi army against Şengal in cooperation with the KDP.
Al- Jabur tribe’s opinion leader Siud Al-Salim read out a statement in a protest demonstration attended by opinion leaders and members of the Hol District Council.
“We strongly condemn the attacks against Şengal and its people. The Iraqi army and the KDP left their people alone when ISIS attacked Şengal and now they now want to control the already liberated city,” the statement said.
The opinion leaders noted that Şengal was liberated thanks to the sacrifices of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and Şengal Resistance Units (YBŞ).
The opinion leaders called on the Iraqi government and army to end the occupation by fighting the Turkish army instead of fighting the Şengal people.
The opinion leaders condemned the conspiracies against Şengal and called on the Iraqi government not to be tricked by the plans of the Turkish state, whose aim -they said- is to invade Iraqi territories. Furthermore, they called for measures to prevent renewed ISIS activity in the region.
