Autonomous Administration establishes Public Supervisory Body

The “Public Supervisory Authority” is a new body of the Autonomous Administration created to protect the administration itself and guarantee its development.

After months of preparation, the “Public Supervisory Authority” of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has now been established.

The elected supervisors were sworn in on 6 October at a council meeting. The public supervisory authority is part of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The main task of the authority is to examine and control the work of the institutions.

Mahir Temran from the board of directors of the authority explained the tasks of the institution: "The task of this institution is to protect the Autonomous Administration and to guarantee its further development."

The authority consists of different departments. There is the general supervisory board, the executive committee and the supervisory committee. The general supervisory board is the highest body of the authority. Experts work in the authority. The board commission is made up of the co-chairs and their deputies. The supervisory committees are formed together with the supervisory committee of the institutions of the Autonomous Administration.

Temran stressed that the creation of the agency was about overcoming the obstacles to building up autonomous administration and countering the corruption mentality created by the Assad regime.
