Bedran Çiya Kurd: Damascus government exacerbates suffering of Syrian people

Bedran Çiya Kurd, Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration Foreign Relations Department, said that the embargo on Shehba and Şêxmeqsûd is a crime against humanity and added that the Syrian government has exacerbated the problems.

Bedran Çiya Kurd spoke to ANHA concerning the embargo imposed by the Syrian government on the Shehba region and the Şêxmeqsûd neighbourhood.

Bedran Çiya Kurd called attention to the struggle of the people of Shehba and Şêxmeqsûd and added that the attitude of the people was dignified despite the difficult conditions and embargoes.

'EXACERBATION OF EMBARGO IS CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY'

Çiya Kurd noted that the Damascus administration has fomented troubles for the citizens for years, which has now become a crime against humanity. Çiya Kurd emphasized that they do not accept hostile policies of the Damascus administration, trying to overcome problems and taking their own measures.

Çiya Kurd said that the Damascus government should know that there are serious political and economic problems in all of Syria.

Çiya Kurd stressed that the Syrian people should form an alliance and stand against the common threat which is the Turkish invasion. He added that an agreement should be made on this basis in order to liberate the occupied areas. Çiya Kurd said: “Unfortunately, the government of Damascus does not have a national stance. Even in the last invasion attacks, many soldiers of the Syrian army lost their lives. So far, there has been no statement from the Damascus government.”

'DAMASCUS GOVERNMENT CLAMPS DOWN US'

Çiya Kurd addressed the indifference of the Damascus administration to the Turkish invasion attacks. He said: “Either it wants to appease the Turkish regime or expects the Turkish attacks to disturb us. It wants us to give up our achievements. However, it is not possible for us to do so. We have obtained these achievements with the blood of thousands of our martyrs. We will do no matter what to protect them.”

Concerning the demonstrations in Süveyda, south of Syria, Çiya Kurd said that if the Damascus administration does not review its policies, similar riots and demonstrations will follow in many areas.

Çiya Kurd noted that the Syrian people can no longer tolerate this situation, and even the communities most loyal to the regime are likely to revolt in the near future.

'WE FEEL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ENDING SUFFERING OF SYRIANS'

Çiya Kurd said: “The position of the Damascus government is not positive. It was believed that there was no party to negotiate with it and to reach a political agreement. We, however, consider ourselves responsible for ending the suffering of the Syrian people. We are always ready to be a part of the solution.”
