Danish MP: Turkish troops must withdraw from Syria

A delegation of the Red-Green Alliance from Denmark is currently in Rojava. Søren Søndergaard demands the immediate withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria.

On Wednesday a delegation from Denmark arrived in Qamishlo city of northern Syria. The delegation, chaired by Danish parliamentarian Søren Søndergaard of the Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten - De rød-grønne, EL), will be meeting with the autonomous administration and civil society organisations to discuss the consequences of the Turkish invasion and the situation of the IDPs.

The chairman of the delegation, Søren Søndergaard, reported that they had repeatedly condemned the Turkish war of aggression in the Danish Parliament and called for the withdrawal of Turkish troops and allies from Syria.

Søndergaard said they had also called for the deployment of international forces under UN supervision at the Syria-Turkey border.

On Wednesday, the Danish delegation arrived in Qamişlo and was received at the Sêmalka border crossing before a meeting at the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

The meeting was attended by Abdulkarim Omar, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department, Deputy Co-chair Ebîr Îleya, Abdulrehman Selman from the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration and Raniya Xelîl, who is in charge of protocol.

The delegation wants to investigate the situation in the self-governing areas after the Turkish Jihadist invasion. In the next few days there will be further meetings with representatives of the political parties of North and East Syria.
