Erdoğan's bloody Afrin diary
The Turkish military invasion of Afrin has killed over 300 civilians and injured 1,200 since January 20.
The Turkish military invasion of Afrin has killed over 300 civilians and injured 1,200 since January 20.
The Turkish government spokesman Bekir Bozdağ once again claimed at a press conference yesterday that no civilian in Afrin had "even bled his nose". He is trying to cover up the war crimes committed by the Turkish state and the Islamist groups it employs. However, the massacres of over 300 civilians in Afrin have been documented by the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurd), the Health Council of Canton Afrin, the Avrîn Hospital and the Rojava Human Rights Association.
The war crimes of the Turkish state have also been recorded by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). A summary of the reports from the Afrin institutions is to be submitted to the United Nations and international tribunals.
According to the Health Council of Canton Afrin, 232 civilians have been killed within the first 52 days of the Turkish military invasion, including 35 minors and 29 women. 668 civilians were injured, including 90 minors and 100 women. After two months of Turkish air and ground attacks, the number of civilians killed exceeded 300. Injuries counted over 1,200 civilians. The number of executions following the Turkish occupation of the city center has not yet been determined.
ANF has already published at various times the names of civilian deaths from Afrin. Most recently, a list of deaths subdivided into the various districts of the canton was documented. Due to the renewed assertion of the Turkish government spokesman Bekir Bozdağ that no harm has been done to the civilian population, we are publishing a section of the massacre committed by the Turkish state in Afrin.
