Ferhad Can: Damascus gov’t was asked to remain silent about Turkish attacks

Ferhad Can, one of the commanders of the Til Temir Military Council, criticized the Damascus government for not reacting to the Turkish invasion attacks, saying that the Damascus government was specifically asked to remain silent towards Turkish attacks.

The invading Turkish state and its mercenaries have escalated attacks on North and East Syria, including the regions along the Syrian border, since the beginning of August. Most recently, on August 18, an attack was carried out against the village of Shemoke, 16 kilometres west of the city of Hesekê and 2 kilometres from the military base of the International Coalition. Four girls were killed as a result of the attack that targeted an UN-sponsored girls' education centre.

Speaking to ANHA, a commander of the Til Temir Military Council, Ferhad Can, said that attacks have increased after the talks in Tehran and Sochi.

“Each day, military deployment is taking place to the military bases in the regions occupied by the invading Turkish army and their mercenaries in 2019. Mosques, schools and civil institutions are targeted in the villages of Til Temir.”

The guarantor states, particularly Russia, remain silent about the attacks and bombings of Turkish invaders who have military bases in the region. The Damascus government, which has been patrolling the border line since 2019, would not react to the Turkish attacks.

'WE ALSO PROTECT THE FORCES OF DAMASCUS GOVERNMENT'

“Russian forces have been targeted more than once and attacks on Russian bases continue. The forces of the Damascus government are also targeted every day and their soldiers are killed. However, they are still silent because they were asked not to respond to the attacks,” Ferhad Can said.

“The forces affiliated with the Damascus government do not respond to the attacks. But the Til Temir Military Council will resist as part of the self-defence principle. We will use our right to defend ourselves. As a matter of fact, it is us that are protecting the forces of the Damascus government,” Ferhad Can remarked.

“Our military forces are ready militarily, logistically and morally to ward off attacks, and remain committed to protecting the region. Our goal is the liberation of the occupied areas,” the commander concluded.
