Girê Spî Canton Council is working to support 70,000 people who were forced to migrate following the Turkish state invasion attacks.
After the Turkish state invaded Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, Girê Spî Canton Council started work to meet the needs of the people who were forced to flee their homes.
The first thing the Council did was to build a camp in the north of Raqqa in collaboration with Raqqa Civil Council to host the refugees.
The Council, which also manages the camp, cooperates with aid organizations and related institutions operating in the region to meet the basic needs of refugees.
The Girê Spî Refugees Camp, established by the Council on 22 November 2019, provides shelter to 250 families, but the population of the camps is increasing by the day. It is stated that a thousand families can be accommodated in the camp.
On the other hand, the Council has formed Social Services, Municipality, Economy, Women, Education, Health, Defense, Youth, Culture-Art and Justice committees to create an administrative system in the camp.
Providing information about the work, Girê Spî Canton Council co-chair Hemid Abdul told ANHA: "The Council continues to work against all odds. Within the scope of our work, we also carry out inspection on bread ovens and diesel oil distribution to families."
