The health committee of the Cizîrê region called for consequences against Turkey after the bombing of a hospital and warned of a humanitarian catastrophe.
Medical workers in Qamishlo protested against the bombing of the Tel Rifat hospital, which was hit by a Turkish attack on June 16, Friday. Four people were injured in the attack, and one of whom was a member of the hospital staff. The statement was supported by members of the Kurdish Red Crescent organization, Heyva Sor a Kurd, and civil society organisations.
The health committee of the Cizîrê region condemned the bombing as a war crime and demanded consequences for Turkey. The statement issued in front of the health committee building referred to the increased military attacks in the autonomous region of northern and eastern Syria and criticised the lack of response from international organisations.
"Most recently, the Turkish state bombed the hospital in Tel Rifat. The attack injured people, some of whom are in critical condition. These attacks are taking place in front of the eyes of the world community, but the world is silent. Organisations like the UN, WHO and the international coalition against ISIS are complicit in these crimes through their silence," Xalid Dawûd and Hediye Ebdullah said in Arabic and Kurdish on behalf of the health committee.
In a statement on Sunday, the Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) defined the bombing of Til Rifat Hospital as a new crime and massacre attempt that sought to jeopardize the lives of thousands of patients, to cut off their supplies and to force them to flee, as it is the only hospital that is serving and treating patients and dealing with emergency cases day and night despite the lack of capabilities, daily bombardment by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries and the embargo imposed by the Damascus government. According to the statement, the targeted bombing of the hospital paralyzed the movement of the medical staff and stopped the service as a result of the damage caused to the hospital.
