Afrin Liberation Forces (Hêzên Rizgariya Afrinê - HRE) fighter Zîn Sekvan, who was killed by a Turkish drone in northern Syria on 18 August, was laid to rest at the “Şehîd Dîcle” cemetery in Kobanê.

Zîn Sekvan's real name was Roşîn Elî and she came from Kobanê. The Kurd was a co-founder of the "Resistance Group Şehîd Avesta", which continues to fight against the Turkish occupation within the Afrin Liberation Forces.

Hundreds of people from the Euphrates region attended the funeral. Zîn Sekvan was paid her last respects by a military guard of honor.

Ayşe Efendî, co-chair of the Council of Families of the Martyrs in the Euphrates Region, said that Zîn Sekvan fought for the liberation of Afrin, which was occupied by Turkey in 2018, as well as all four parts of Kurdistan. Efendî added: "Once again, we give the courageous children of this country our word that we will defend ourselves to the last drop of blood against the attacks of the occupiers."

Xedîce Îbo from the Council of the Martyrs’ Families in Afrin-Şehba said: "We will continue to work day and night to free Afrin from the Turkish occupiers. We are not terrorists. We are the inhabitants of this land. Terrorists are those who kill our children, rob our homes and occupy our lands.”

Mistefa Sedîq said in a speech on behalf of the PYD youth: "Our martyrs are our truth. We will never give up what they have fought for. We will liberate Afrin because the philosophy of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] teaches us not to betray our country and to stand up for our freedom.”

Yasmîn Elî, the sister of Zîn Sekvan, also gave a short speech and said that the fight was going on. She said she will follow her sister's path until there is peace in the region and the population can live in freedom and safety.

After the speeches, the death certificate of the martyr was read and handed over to the family of Zîn Sekvan.
