The revolution in northern Syria and the establishment of radical democratic, women-free structures attracted the attention of many people worldwide on Rojava. Internationalist militants and revolutionaries from various countries came to the region to support the resistance and to learn from societal processes of building as well as to participate in them.

Internationalist fighter Şilan was a literary scholar in Europe. She came to Rojava to get to know the revolution against the state system better and to take her place in the resistance.

Şilan fought on different fronts in Rojava. Now she is fighting against the state system that she has always rejected, in the resistance of Afrin. She explains that she is truly astonished at the resistance mounted by the people of Afrin and says, "This people, who lead their struggle with such determination, will undoubtedly be victorious."

Şilan explains that she draws great strength and morality from the resistance in Afrin: "Those who want to see resistance should come here." She emphasizes that despite all the massacres and threats, the peoples of the region have doubt and continue their resistance.
