Iraq repatriates 157 families from Hol camp

Iraq repatriated 157 families - a total of 634 individuals - from Hol camp.

157 Iraqi families were repatriated from Hol camp on Tuesday, after discussions between Iraq's Security Committee, Hol camp administration, and the US-led international coalition.

They have been transferred to Ja'ada camp in Iraq.

According to Rojava Information Centre (RIC), over 27,000 Iraqis remain in Hol camp, most of whom are women and children. They are vulnerable to violence from ISIS-linked elements in the camp.

In a recent interview, YPJ spox Roxanne Mohammed drew attention to the role of ISIS-affiliated women inside al-Hol camp, saying, "ISIS relies on women and even children to revive its extremist ideology in al-Hol camp, offering doctrinal lessons."

The Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria (AANES) Foreign Relations spokesperson, Kamal Akef, emphasized the need to disband the camp and deal with the burden of ISIS-linked individuals at an international level. He said  AANES has communication channels open with almost all countries who have nationals in camps in Northern and Eastern Syria.

Recent international repatriation missions from Germany and the UK have been welcomed by the Autonomous Administration.
