Joint statement against attacks from political parties in Rojava

Political parties in Rojava called on the Kurdish people for unity against the Turkish state’s attacks on Efrîn Canton and Shehba and called on the international community to take responsibility.

Syrian Kurds Progressive Democrat Party, PYD, Syrian Kurds Democratic Party, Syrian Kurds Unity Party and TEV-DEM Diplomacy Committee issued a joint statement and condemned the Turkish state’s attacks on the Efrîn Canton and Shehba.

The statement points out that as the SDF fighters advance in Raqqa and achieve great victories, the Turkish state and their allied gangs have increased their threats on the Efrîn Canton and Shehba and continues:

“The Turkish state is also violating the principles of human rights and international laws and positioning military forces in the region.

Thousands of migrants from all over Syria have Settled in the Kerdağ region in Efrîn. Efrîn has become a symbol of a common life, the brotherhood of peoples and the symbol of peace in the Syrian revolution.

During the beginnings of the Syrian crisis, Islamic armed groups imposed an embargo on the region. These embargos were imposed by the Muslim Brotherhood, SNC and the AKP Government. On the other hand, Efrîn city center and the villages are subjected to enemy attacks. With these, the olive and pomegranate trees in the border region have been ripped out and the fields have been set on fire. Places the migrants have settled in have also been shot at.

We condemn the Turkish army increasing their military equipment and troops in Syrian territory and attacking civilians. We call on the US and Russia and the international community and peace forces to act responsibly in the face of attacks on the Efrîn Canton and Shehba. We also call on all Kurdish forces, Kurdish political parties and Kurdish patriots to build their unity, resolve their conflicts and support the SDF and YPG-YPJ forces against enemy attacks.

We invite the people of Efrîn to the march on July 5 to condemn the attacks of the Turkish state together as all the peoples and call on all to protect our region.”
