Kurdish language primary school opens in Sheikh Maqsoud

The Democratic Society Education Committee (KPC-D) opened the Kurdish language primary school of Martyr Qehreman on the demand of the people of Sheikh Maqsoud.
The school will have elementary age students and teach using Kurdish textbooks. 50 students have registered in the school so far.
According to school officials, the school will have classes in mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences and Kurdish language with 14 teachers.
Education inspector and Kurdish teacher Hevin Ebdo spoke to ANHA and said the people of Sheikh Maqsoud are registering their children in the school, which will be a first experience for the KPC-D in Aleppo.
Ebdo continued: The 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students will receive fundamental education in Kurdish reading and writing. 4th, 5th and 6th grade students will also have the option to take Arabic and English if they want.”
Ebdo stated that she believes all students will be successful in the coming education year and that societal awareness of the importance of education in the mother tongue for children is a great development.
The students say they are glad that school is starting.
Democratic Society Education Committee (KPC-D) had opened a chapter in Sheikh Maqsoud on October 7.
