Mammography center opened in Qamishlo

The Kurdish Red Crescent has opened a centre for early detection of breast cancer in Qamishlo. It is the first mammography practice in northern and eastern Syria. The treatment is free of charge.

In the region of North and East Syria, there are only few possibilities for the treatment of breast cancer. The existing facilities were also poorly equipped. Now the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurd) has set up a health centre for early detection of breast cancer in Qamishlo.

The centre is located in the Munir Habib neighborhood and offers free services. It has mammography equipment and other modern facilities. Six specialists work in the three rooms. In addition to diagnosis and treatment, information on the subject is offered.

A heart and eye clinic had been opened In Qamishlo earlier. The expansion of health care services in North-East Syria is an important development, as patients have so far been able to find treatment only in larger cities outside the autonomous area.
