The military organization of Manbij, which liberated Manbij area from ISIS about a year ago appointed a new commander in place of former commander Adnan Abu Amjad who fell a martyr in the Raqqa battle.
After a meeting on Sunday, the council named Mihemed Abu Adil as the new commander of Manbij Military Council.
More than 90 high ranking military officials in Manbij attended the Council meeting on Sunday. Shervan Dervis, the spokesperson of the council, commemorated the martyred commanders of Manbij, Faysal Abu Layla and Adnan Abu Amjad. He said that the council appointed Mihemed Abu Adil as the new commander of military forces in Manbij.
The new commander said he is aware that he has big responsibilities and called on everybody to join the common struggle against attacks targeting the Syrian people.
Manbij region is frequently targeted by Turkey and Turkish supported gangs. Manbij was liberated more than a year ago and the commander of this operation Faysal Abu Layla was martyred near Manbij.
Abu Layla’s successor Adnan Abu Amjad took part in the ongoing operation to liberate Raqqa. He fell a martyr last month during clashes with ISIS.
