The people in Serêkaniyê responded to the Turkish state’s threats of invasion by starting a human shield action.
Serêkaniyê people have put up a tent at the border with Turkey and are staying there as human shield to protest against the threats to occupy their lands issued by the Turkish state.
In addition to the hundreds of people involved, the PYD (Democratic Union Party), the Democratic Party of Syria (Yekitî), the Democratic Left Party, the Syrian Democratic Kurdish Party (Al-Parthi) and the Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party are also taking part in the action.
In the speeches made in the tent, people responded to the Turkish state’s threats to occupy Northern and Eastern Syria by sending a message of resistance that will spread to the whole of the region.
Idris Iso, member of the Autonomous Administration, said in his speech: “We are the citizens of this land and our right to defend our lands is legitimate. We gave so many martyrs to this land and we will not leave it. We will defend it no matter the cost.”
Iso called on the people of Northern and Eastern Syria to stand up against the threats of the Turkish state and added: “The people of Northern and Eastern Syria are beside the YPG and the SDF. We continue our resistance everywhere, and we are going to defeat all conspiracies against our people with our resistance.”
