MSD condemns Sulaymaniyah airport attack

MSD condemns the hostile practices of the Turkish state aimed at destroying the Kurdish efforts to fight terrorism and the unity between Iraq, Syria and the Coalition.

In a written statement, the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) condemned the attack carried out by the Turkish state on Sulaymaniyah Airport.

The statement said: "We strongly condemn this attack on Iraq's security. The invading Turkish state is clearly violating international agreements with this attack.

Since the AKP came to power, it has been trying to violate international agreements and neighbourly relations. By interfering in the affairs of neighbouring states, Turkey threatens the will of the people, the lives of civilians, and violates their political freedoms. With such attacks, the Turkish state wants to destroy the road to democratic transition and political solution in Syria.

This attack is against the unity and security of Iraq, one of the main partners in the fight against terrorism."

The statement continued: "We call on the international community to close the airspaces of Iraq and Syria to prevent further attacks by the invading Turkish state. The international community should condemn this hostile and inhumane practice that seeks to destroy the role of the Kurds in the democratic solution.

This attack hinders counter-terrorism efforts, the unity between Iraq, Syria and the Coalition as part of the war against the terrorist organization ISIS."
