MSD condemns the Qamishlo attack and murder of priest

SDF reiterated their call for the adoption of a firm stance against the crimes committed in northeastern Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD or SNC) released a statement on Monday’s terrorist bombings in Qamishlo city that killed several people and injured dozens of civilians; many of them have unstable healthy conditions.

Remarking that the blood of the Syrian components of Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians and Kurds was mixed in these bombings, MSD said that this terrorist act is targeting the project of democratic solution represented by Self-Administration for north and East of Syria. It noted that the guns of the enemies do not distinguish among the partners of Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Council condemned in the strongest terms “this terrorist act, which seeks to undermine the gains of our people, the security and stability conditions that have been achieved as a result of the administration of these people and their various components.” At the same time, -MSD said- such bombings attempted to break the spirit of resistance of our people who proved to the world that they have the spirit of determination to thwart all conspiracies against Syria, its people and its history.

The statement continued; “This crime came at the same time when ISIS killed a Catholic Father, Hosib Bedoyan, the priest of the Armenian Catholic Church in Qamishli, with his father and wounded a deacon accompanying him. We condemn this crime and see it as a systematic continuation of old Ottoman policy of annihilating peoples, targeting civilians and clergy, threatening the Christian presence, and ending the state of diversity, ethnic, national and religious diversity in the region in favor of stereotyping and factionalism contrary to the culture of our regions.”

Appealing to the families of the victims and the Syrian people with sincere condolences and urgent recovery for the wounded; MSD asked all societal components to be careful in order to fail the plans of humanity enemies which aim to threaten their people’s presence and their rich culture and to provide assistance to related Self-Administration foundations.

“We call once again upon the international community and the United Nations to act swiftly, to show a firm stance towards the crimes of the Turkish occupation army and the criminal factions that are ordered by Turkey whether in its occupation of parts of northern Syria or its participation in the crime of demographic change in our areas,” added the MSD.
