In Manbij city in northern Syria, an aggression by Turkish-backed militias of the "Euphrates Shield" was successfully repulsed by fighters from the military councils of Manbij and al-Bab. The aggression focused on villages in the northwest of Manbij and began with attacks on the village of Erima on the Korhyok hill. There the militiamen met with fierce resistance based on legitimate self-defense. Members of the al-Bab Military Council put jihadist positions under fire. Occasional fighting continues.
The village of Toxa in Manbij is also targeted by the occupying forces. According to reports, two Syrian regime soldiers are said to have been killed by militia snipers.
Meanwhile, in the nearby village of Seyada, positions of Syrian troops were attacked. The attack was repulsed by fighters of the Manbij Military Council.
Many refugees from the Idlib province in northwest Syria are currently seeking protection in Manbij. The regime's offensive to capture the city from mercenary groups is driving tens of thousands of Syrians to flee. Hundreds of families have already reached the self-governing city. Since Thursday some 200 families have been led by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) across the border river Sajur, a tributary of the Tigris, where the Awn al-Dadat crossing is located. The place serves as a crossing point from the Turkish-occupied territories in northern Syria to the self-governing regions.
