The signatures were also sent to Asrın Law Office, which provided the legal defense of Abdullah Öcalan.

The message said: “We are a group of lawyers and human rights activists who established an initiative with the aim of securing the release of Mr Abdullah Öcalan, who has been imprisoned for nearly twenty-five years.

Mr Öcalan is a political prisoner who fought for the freedom of the Kurdish people with the aim of resolving the Kurdish question in Turkey and in the region more generally.”
