Since 8 January, civilians from North-East Syria have been holding a vigil at the Tishrin Dam to protect their territory alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Women's Defense Units (YPJ) who are confronting attacks by the Turkish army and allied mercenaries called the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The resistance at the Tishrin Dam continues on its 53rd day. The vigil, taken over by people from the Euphrates Canton (Kobanê, Ain Issa and Sirrin) on February 25, was handed over to people from the Cizir Canton today.
Gêlo Hisên, member of the Kobanê People's Assembly, read a press statement and said that all components of the region have taken their place in the resistance ongoing for 53 days.
Hisên stated that the resistance at the Tishrin Dam is a result of the culture of resistance created by the July 19 Revolution in Rojava in the minds of the people.
Remezan Fetah, member of the PYD (Democratic Union Party) Assembly, commemorated all the martyrs in the person of the martyrs of the Tishrin Dam resistance, and expressed his gratitude to all those who have fallen in the struggle for freedom.
Fetah saluted the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the people of the region and vowed that they will continue their resistance until the attacks stop.
After the statement, the slogan “Long live the resistance of SDF, YPG and YPJ” was chanted.
