Large numbers of people from Afrin moved to Shehba Canton after the genocidal attacks by the Turkish army and allied gangs. Many of these are staying at the Berxwedan Camp in Shehba. The camp, located in the district of Fafin, houses 4 thousand people in 800 tents.
Shehba Autonomous Administration meets the needs of Afrin people with their own means. Peoples of Northern Syria and Kurds in Europe are also providing support for the displaced people who protest the silence of international institutions amid challenging circumstances they are suffering from.
Rula Karo from Afrin’s Jindires region recalled that they were forced to leave their homes due to the invasion attacks of the Turkish state, saying; “Our children were afraid of warplanes and artillery attacks. None of the international institutions and establishments is interested in what we are being through.”
Cihan Mihemed from Rajo region pointed out that they won’t be able to return home unless Afrin is fully liberated.
Hec Cemil from Shitka village of Mabeta pointed to the heavy conditions they are facing because of the Turkish state, saying; “International silence allowed the Turkish state to attack the Afrin Canton and kill thousands of children of ours.”
