People of Afrin who are facing attacks by the Turkish army for one week now say; “We will defend our land at any cost”.

An Afrin citizen stated that everyone is joining the resistance, saying; “May God protect YPG and YPJ. We are under ceaseless bombardment. Our children are afraid, we are all afraid. May God be with our friends, may the victory be ours.”

Another local from a village of Shiye said the following referring to Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan; “What do you have to do with us? What right do you have to attack us? You are killing our children and elderly. YPG/YPJ, asayish and we civilians are all with Afrin. We cannot be severed from each other. We stand with our children. We are not afraid of your warplanes and bombardments.”

Saluting Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the local said; “May we sacrifice our lives for our comrades in the emplacements and mountains.”

Another resident called attention to Erdoğan’s atrocity against the Kurds and said the following; “If you step on Afrin land, the world will turn upside down. We are with our children, we will all join the battle. The God is not on your side. You will be defeated wherever you are.

Your death will come from our hands, from these arms if you happen to enter our land. Our youth will do this. We, young and old alike, are standing up. We salute Leader Apo (Öcalan), the Kurdish people and all those behind bars.”

Another inhabitant of Afrin said; “We are ready to sacrifice our lives for our country and land. We stand with YPG and YPJ. We will defend our land till the last drop of blood.

We salute our martyrs. This will be a heavy war but we will not bend the knee. We will remain standing till the last drop of blood. We, the Kurds in Afrin and all four parts of Kurdistan, are united. We are being bombed but we will never leave Afrin until we die.”

Condemning the attacks of the Turkish state, another resident spoke as follows; “You are bombing us with tank and artillery fire but we are not afraid of you. Kurds are a resisting folk. We are always with the YPG and YPJ. We are in the ranks of resistance. What does Erdoğan want from us? We are not, and we will never be afraid of his tanks, bombs and warplanes. We will all resist till the last drop of blood and fight alongside YPG and YPJ. Erdoğan will have to kill all of us if he wants to enter Afrin.

We will never leave our land and country. We are not afraid of Erdoğan and his gangs, not his supporters and the states that take sides with him. We do not accept the attacks against Afrin. We call on the Kurdish people in Europe and all around the world to take to the streets. The day is the day of resistance and victory. We only trust in our own power.”
