People of Deir ez-Zor continue their protest to return home

People demand the withdrawal of Syrian regime forces from their villages.

For days, protests have been carried out by residents of six regime-controlled villages in the Salihiya region of eastern Syria. People demand the withdrawal of Syrian troops because they want to return to their villages and homes. These are the villages of al-Salhiyah, Hasham, Merat, Mazlum, Huseyni and Hetla.

Masses took to the streets in Salihiya town to the east of Deir ez-Zor today under the motto “Friday of Salihiya Martyrs”.

People reiterated their demand for the retreat of Syrian forces from their villages so they can return home.

Banners held by the demonstrators read “Down with the international politics done over our legitimate rights” and “No terror”.

People denounced expulsion from their villages by Syrian regime forces, seizure of their homes and a demographic change underway in the region.
