People of Manbij rally for a democratic constitution

“We want a constitution that does not annihilate but protects us,” said the people of Manbij.

Hundreds of people rallied in the northern Syrian city of Manbij under the lead of Syrian Future Party and demanded the formation of a constitution to represent all folks and faith groups in Syria.

The demonstrators, who included representatives of the Manbij Democratic Civil Administration, held up photos of Kurdish politician Hevrin Khalaf who was brutally murdered by the Turkish-backed savage gangs, and banners calling for the establishment of decentralization based on diversity and democracy against centralization.

The march was followed by a rally where Syrian Future Party member Imad Musa spoke and highlighted their demand for the freedom and an honorable life for peoples, which they have repeatedly voiced since the popular movement began in March 2011.

Denouncing the international support for terror, Musa said the following; “The ISIS terror received the first blow in Kobanê and was defeated in Deir ez-Zor. Terror has been eliminated thanks to the peoples of North and East Syria. However, this victory will not be finalized unless the real representatives of the people attend all international meetings and talks for a solution to the Syrian crisis.”

Speaking on behalf of NGOs, Abdullah Hico voiced their opposition to the deals made on the peoples of Syria, stressing that; “Only the people of Syria have the right to determine their own destiny. We are the owners of these lands and we have the right to live freely in every inch of our land. The Syrian constitution should secure the rights of all peoples and faith groups.”
