People of Qamishlo said they won’t accept the Turkish state’s invasion of Afrin or the wall they put up, stressing: “We will resist and we will prevail.”
Qamishlo Families of Martyrs Association Member Behcet Xelil said the following on the hunger strikes and the wall that is being put up:
“The hunger strikes led by Leyla Guven continue. We know that they won’t stop until their demand is met. They want the isolation conditions against Leader Apo to end, and they will continue even if some lose their lives for this cause. They insist on this march. Today we state once again that we stand by the hunger strike that started with Leyla Guven and spread to thousands, and its heroes, and that we support them as the families of martyrs.
I want to call on the whole world: How can NATO and human rights organizations ignore the Turkish state, who entered a land that is not theirs and put up walls there, who commit injustices? How can they just watch?
We as the Kurdish people must stand against this and resist. Like Leader Apo says, if you don’t stand up for your values nobody else will. We will stand up for our values and we won’t stop until we tear down the wall of invasion.”
“WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER”
Gule Mihemmed, a mother in the Social Women’s Defense Forces, said:
“We condemn those who attack Afrin. We will stand with Afrin and her people to the last drop of our blood. We will never surrender to this enemy that lacks a conscience and is an enemy to our religion. What right do they have to enter Afrin and exploit our lands, to put up a wall there? The Kurdish people are not like they were in the past, now we act in unity. With this strength, we will never be intimidated by the enemy.
We get stronger as they hurt us and put up a wall. We will turn one into a hundred, hundreds into millions, we will always stand up. They put up walls when they see they can’t intimidate us, they attack our youth. We will resist against the attacks until the last drop of our blood, we will be in the streets and in marches. The people of Afrin and the Kurdish people are not afraid of them anymore. We will free our leader and stand together, we will take back Afrin which is ours.”
