People's Municipality allocated houses to 2,300 families after earthquake

Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiye People's Municipality allocated houses to 2,300 families whose houses were damaged in the earthquake.

Aleppo's Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiye People's Municipality provided housing aid to 3,000 families who were left homeless as a result of the earthquake that took place on February 6 and 21.

The Municipality's Science Office published a report on earthquake damage on 17 February 2023.

Housing provided to 2,300 families

Under the coordination of Şêxmeqsûd neighbourhood’s east and west councils and with the approval of the municipality's tender commission, housing was provided to 2,300 families living on high floors in Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiye neighbourhoods.

After this decision, tents set up in streets, parks and empty spaces were removed.

Municipality Contract and Reconciliation Commission Member Menan Ebdi said that after the earthquake, a solution was reached under the coordination of the municipality administration and the General Assembly.

Ebdi pointed out that housing will be allocated in the west of the neighbourhood for families whose houses are now uninhabitable and are in danger of being demolished.

Stating that the transfer of the residents is done in an organized manner between the municipality and the communes, Ebdi continued: "The transfer will take place in two stages. The first will be with the approval of the municipality and with the help of the communes. In addition, new contracts have been prepared for the residents."
