The Peoples' Assembly of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced that the Syrian flag will be hoisted in Northern and Eastern Syria.
In a statement on Thursday, the Assembly said the following:
“The regime, which has imposed its oppressive and despotic rule on the Syrian peoples for more than 60 years, with the peoples suffering great pain due to its policies of persecution and denial, has been overthrown. The Syrian people celebrate their victory against the regime.
In connection with this historic development, the flag of independence with 3 stars on a green, white and black background represents the Syrian peoples' hopes for national unity, honour and freedom in the new era.
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria regions are a part of the Syrian geography and the Autonomous Administration regions are a homeland that includes the ancient peoples of Syria. On this basis, the Democratic Peoples’ Assembly will use the Syrian flag in all cantons where all assemblies, institutions and administrations affiliated to the Autonomous Administration are located.
The Democratic Peoples Assembly reiterates its commitment to be the representative of the demands of all Syrian peoples and emphasises that it will strengthen the work for national unity on the basis of equality and justice among all components within the framework of democratic Syria.”
